New Product
Our Trent is a Tubular Mid Hinged Column, which like the Tyne, was designed to allow maintenance of the luminaire in areas where access to the column is restricted or limited. The Trent hinges at it’s midpoint allowing the luminaire to be serviced at ground level without the need for access equipment such as a cherry picker.
Operation
The hinging operation is a simple “see saw” principle which allows the column shaft and luminaire to be rotated around a hinge positioned approximately half way up the column. This hinging method has the advantage of allowing the column to hinge in almost its own footprint.
There is no need for any expensive springs or hydraulic raising and lowering equipment other than one man equipped with a rope. The special rope is attached to the skirt of the column prior to the lowering operation taking place, the unique, patent applied for triple locking device ensures that accidental lowering of the column cannot take place. We believe that this triple locking mechanism is the safest and securest system currently available in the market.
An important safety feature of the design of the Trent is that the hinging skirt does not restrict access to the door opening in its erected position and therefore it is possible to disconnect the electricity supply to the luminaire before lowering the column.
Supply
Column heights of up to 8m are currently available but this will soon be extended to 12m. The usual full range of bracket arm options are available and the Trent is available in planted root or flange plated versions.
These mid hinged tubular columns are available in either a hot dip galvanised finish complying with BS EN 1461 but can also be painted to customer specifications.
Design
Trent Mid Hinged Columns are manufactured and designed in accordance with the British Standard BS 5649. In addition these Lighting Columns will also fully comply with the new European Standard EN40, which will shortly replace BS5649.
