These base hinged hydraulically operated octagonal columns have been developed for applications where large head weights are required and where columns can be lowered horizontally without any interference. They are ideally suited for sports field flood lighting applications and can be supplied up to mounting heights of 25m.

The column is designed to pivot at a position approximately 1000mm above ground level using a set of demountable double acting hydraulic cylinders. These cylinders can either be operated either by a hand or electric pump and the system is designed to ensure that the column is locked in place in the unlikely event of either a hydraulic leak or electrical failure.
It is literally possible to remove the hydraulic pipes half way through the raising and lowering operation without the system failing!

The base compartment of the pole is large enough to install floodlight control gear and can be customised for individual applications. The columns have a sophisticated anti tamper locking system which can only be accessed through the door opening which is in turn protected by a vandal resistant door.

These columns are normally flange plated version and can be supplied with a variety cross arm designed to suit almost any application. These columns can be designed to comply with BS5649, the new EN40 or the Institute of Lighting Engineers Technical Report No.7.
